Thank you all for being a part of the FCIA, Firestop Contractors International Association. By being a part of the FCIA, not only are you pushing a new and exciting industry forward, but you are also supporting an industry that truly can save lives.
I am genuinely honored to be serving you all as the 2023 FCIA Board President. Firestopping is something I have been passionate about since I first learned about the industry. Not only was I intrigued about how important it was, but I was also surprised by how many people knew so little about it. The second I fully understood the importance of proper firestopping, I knew that this was the career path for me. Since then, I have dedicated the last 10 years of my life to learning, studying, teaching, and growing the life safety industry.
I believe that the future of this firestopping industry lies in education and awareness. I am the Committee Chair for the Education Committee, the goal of which is to build the best virtual education program on the market. The Program is called the FCIA Certificate of Achievement Education Program (FCAEP). We rolled out the Firestop Level 1 & Level 2 Programs in 2022. We look forward to rolling out the Level 3 program in 2023. I am passionate about educating as many people as we possibly can. The more people that fully understand why firestopping needs to be installed properly, the better chance we have at continuing to push this profession in a positive direction.
If you want to make a difference, I challenge you to become part of a FCIA Committee. It takes the next generation of Specialty Firestopping Installation Contractors to step up and do their part in continuing to change and mold our industry and Association. We are always excited to see new faces and to hear new ideas.
I also want to thank all the trail blazers that came before us, including a special “Thank you” to all those who have served as FCIA Board President and on the FCIA Board of Directors. There are so many people that have dedicated so much of their time and energy to build the industry we have today. To all of you, “Thank you.” All your hard work has not gone unnoticed. Additionally, I want to thank Bill McHugh and his amazing team for all they do for all of us. I am truly honored to have the opportunity to work beside this fine group of people.
In closing, I am excited for what 2023 has in store! FCIA has so many exciting events on the calendar, I look forward to meeting you in-person if you get the chance to make it to one of our amazing events. If you can’t make it, I hope you get the opportuinty to join us virtually. You don’t want to miss all the great content the FCIA has for us in 2023!
