04/01/21 FCIA’s Standards Committee member Jay McGuire is the chair of the new Task Group at ASTM building a standard for ‘Identification Systems’. Most identify this as labelling firestopping with the system number, contractor contact info, etc. There also can be tags made from plastic, paper, steel, ceramic fiber and more. Where do these ID systems get placed? How close to the penetrating item? On the joint? That’s what is being addressed on the first ballot on ASTM. Watch for more on this as it develops.
