The Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) best practice documents state, 'say it once, refer to that one section when needed from other sections', makes sense to FCIA Members. This FCIA Specification covers all types of firestopping in one section, 07-84-00; Penetrations, Joints and Perimeter Fire Containment are all together rather than breaking it into repetitive partial specs.
Firestopping is its own section in 07-84-00, and should therefore not be in the mechanical, electrical, plumbing, communications or other sections of the Specifications for a structure. Even projects that only focus on the penetrating items are recommended to use the 07-84-00 Specification as the basis for projects, to be edited to fit each buidling's needs.
